ECHO TERMINAL | PRIVACY POLICY
1. Introduction
> Echo lets you transmit text and receive a generated response called an Echo. Echo is designed to be used without a traditional named account: you sign in anonymously and are not asked to provide your name or email address.
> This policy explains what information Echo handles, what is private to you, and what becomes public when you choose to cast an Echo into The Void.
2. Anonymous Authentication
> Echo authenticates you with an anonymous Firebase account. The anonymous account is identified by an internal identifier, not by personal information such as your name or email.
> Reinstalling or clearing Echo does not guarantee that server records linked to your anonymous account are reset or deleted.
3. Private / Service Data
> Echo stores the information needed to provide the app to your anonymous account. This is service data and is not shown publicly:
> - the text you transmit and the generated Echoes returned to you, including your Echo archive/history
> - your terminal/plan (for example Orbital-24 or Nebula-12), transmission allowance state for the current orbit, and any rewards you claim
> - subscription and entitlement status, such as whether a Nebula-12 subscription is active
> - Pulse memberships (which public Echoes you have Pulsed) and which Echoes you have seen
> - push-notification device tokens if you enable notifications
> - crash and stability data so Echo can be improved
> Your Firebase account identifier is internal. It is never shown publicly and is not the same as your public Beacon identifier.
4. How Echoes Are Generated
> When you transmit text, Echo sends that text to a generation model provider (currently Google Gemini) to generate your Echo.
> Your transmissions and Echoes are not shown publicly unless you choose to cast an Echo into The Void.
5. The Void and Public Data
> When you confirm a Cast to Void action, your transmission and its associated Echo become public. Public Void data may include:
> - the transmission text and the Echo text
> - creation information and the Pulse count
> - an anonymous public Beacon identifier (for example a value beginning with BX-)
> Public Void content may appear in the mobile Void and on the Echo public website. A public Beacon is not intended to reveal your real-world identity, and your Firebase account identifier is never exposed as a public Beacon.
> If you remove an Echo from The Void, it stops being discoverable in new public reads; content served through cached public feeds may remain visible for a short time.
6. Moderation
> Content may be subject to moderation. PenguinWorks may prevent content from appearing publicly, or hide or remove public content, where necessary for safety, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or operation of the service.
7. Purchases and Subscriptions
> Nebula-12 is offered as a subscription through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Your payment is processed by the applicable store, and Echo uses RevenueCat to confirm and manage subscription entitlement status.
> PenguinWorks does not directly process App Store or Google Play payment credentials.
8. Services Used to Operate Echo
> Echo relies on service providers to operate. Transmission and Echo content is processed or stored by these providers in order to provide the app:
> - Firebase (Google): anonymous authentication, Cloud Firestore data storage, Cloud Functions server logic, Cloud Messaging for notifications, App Check, and Crashlytics for crash reporting
> - Google Gemini: generates your Echoes from your transmission
> - RevenueCat: subscription and entitlement management
> - Apple App Store and Google Play: purchases and subscriptions
> Echo may also collect limited product analytics that describe feature usage without including your transmission or Echo content. Product analytics are only transmitted by builds that have an analytics App ID configured.
9. Sharing
> PenguinWorks does not sell personal information. Service data is shared only with the providers described above as needed to operate Echo, or where required by law. Data you choose to cast into The Void is intentionally public.
10. Your Choices and Contact
> You choose what to transmit and what to cast into The Void. Removing an Echo from The Void makes it stop appearing publicly.
